March 16, 2016 | New Technology Tools the Focus at Tech for Justice Hackathon
New Mexico Legal Aid recently partnered with the Internet Bar Organization and Chicago Kent Law School to hold a Tech for Justice Hackathon in conjunction with the ABA Techshow. This event was part of a 2015 Technology Initiative Grant made by the Legal Services Corporation. It was held March 12–13 at the law school.
March 12-13, 2016 | Hackathon to Help End Domestic Violence
According to the Chicago Police Department Research and Development Division, an average of 447 domestic violence related calls are placed each day (Domestic Violence Quarterly Statistical Report 2014). Statistics likes this show domestic violence is alarmingly common in Chicago. This has prompted local and national stakeholders to host a Chicago Hackathon to jumpstart development of technology that can be used to help communities mitigate the burgeoning problem.

Tech bring ABA TECHSHOW to Chicago-Kent
Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Tech will host two events relating to the ABA TECHSHOW this month. Over the weekend of March 12 to 13, the free, public Tech for Justice Hackathon aims to bring together lawyers, judges, legal aid workers, technologists, domestic violence experts, activists, entrepreneurs, city and state representatives, business stakeholders, and concerned individuals with a variety of skills to identify and create law practice-based technology solutions to roadblocks in access to justice in the domestic violence context.
