Tech For Justice® San Francisco

June 21-22, 2014 | Code for America

Internet Bar Organization, in conjunction with ODR2014* which took place at Code for America in San Francisco, hosted TECH FOR JUSTICE, the first ever legal hackathon specifically addressing online dispute resolution.

Participants spent a weekend tackling problems within thematic areas that included:

  • collaborative economy
  • cyber bullying
  • environment
  • landlord/tenant issues
  • The teams then produced prototype plans and designs that were presented to an expert panel of judges and the winner was announced and prizes awarded by Jim Silkenat, Internet Bar Organization board member and former President of the American Bar Association, at the ODR2014 Conference.

    Otter

One of the projects that emerged was Otter, a tool that enables students to resolve conflicts with peers and adults through Online Dispute Resolution & SEL Monitoring.

*ODR2014 is the 13th annual global conference for online dispute resolution, organized by Internet Bar Organization, MODRIA, the National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution, UC Hastings Law School and Stanford Law School.
